
Dr. Nicholas G. Bruning grew up in northern Michigan a Traverse City native. After graduating Traverse City Central High School, Dr Bruning attended the University of Michigan where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience.
Following graduation Dr. Bruning continued his studies earning his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University, in Oakland, CA. While in podiatry school, he volunteered at free clinics for underserved communities. This was an opportunity he found very rewarding.
Dr. Bruning completed his Podiatric Surgical Residency training through St. Joseph Mercy Health System at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, MI.
Dr. Bruning is Board Qualified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He has a special interest in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine, trauma, diabetic limb salvage, and lower extremity wound care.
In his free time Dr. Bruning enjoys sailing, alpine skiing, mountain biking and spending time outdoors with his family and friends. He is excited to return home to northern Michigan and serve his community.
